Summer School “Renew my house”<\/em>

From 16 to 18 August 2024, the “Renew My House”<\/em> Summer School<\/a> organized by the Economy of Francesco – Czech hub initiative took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Porta Coeli Monastery in the background of \u201cAtHeaven\u201d. The summer school was inspired by the life of St. Francis of Assisi, whose mission was to renew God’s house. This, in his conception, goes beyond the mere renewal of the Church as an institution – it also includes the renewal of relationships between people and the whole of Creation. Our goal was to create a space for encounter, sharing and seeking together ways to renew and develop the world around us based on Christian values, social responsibility and the Catholic Social Teaching.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The summer school brought together 25 participants and 10 guests, forming a dynamic and diverse group of people with similar interests and values. The whole three days were filled not only with lectures and workshops, but also with volunteer work to improve the surroundings of the monastery. The environment of the Porta Coeli Monastery provided the ideal atmosphere for the summer school and the name of the summer school “Renew my house”<\/em> took on real meaning.<\/p>\n

A programme full of inspiration and suggestions<\/h2>\n

The programme of the summer school was packed with themes relating to environmental and social issues that are crucial for today’s society.<\/p>\n

Right at the beginning, Vojta Pelik\u00e1n gave a lecture on “Managers or siblings of creation? Czech Churches as Managers in the Landscape”<\/em>, which he also addresses in his book Visions of Health, Visions of Destruction. Vojta focused on the role of churches (especially Catholic churches) as managers in the landscape after restitution. He talked about whether churches approach stewardship as merely a means to ensure their operations or whether they perceive their specific role in stewarding God’s creation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Another speaker was Mike Lasky, the Franciscan Order’s General Delegate for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, who enriched us with a Franciscan perspective on the social teaching of the Church. Mike addressed the participants right from the beginning of his talk, stating very clearly that the goal of the Church’s social engagement is not to solve a problem, but above all to proclaim through it that Jesus is Lord. Stanislav Lencz addressed the theme “Mission and unity in diversity = innovation and growth”<\/em>. Stano emphasized that every person plays a key role in the struggle for a better world. As his favorite professor David W. Orr says: “The planet does not need more successful people. But it desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and open-hearted people. It needs people who live well in their place. It needs people with moral courage who are willing to join the fight to make the world livable and humane.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

And these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin and Tomas Sepp brought the theme “Economy of communion as a Lifestyle Entrepreneur”<\/em> to the summer school. Their presentation introduced the Economy of Community (EC), an initiative that is transforming businesses towards social responsibility. Businesses involved in ES voluntarily redistribute profits to support local communities, education and poverty reduction, becoming active players in building a more just society.<\/p>\n

“Synodality, ecology and finance in the church”: <\/em>Ji\u0159\u00ed Zaj\u00edc focused on the importance of synodality and engagement. Synodality, understood as walking together, is a process that has the potential to fundamentally transform the life of the Church and to involve every believer in an active role in transforming society.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Magdal\u00e9na Volkov\u00e1 explored the dynamics of community building and showed how isolation can be overcome and a vibrant community based on respect and love can be created. Her workshop offered participants concrete tools to help create safe spaces for co-creation and unity in diversity.<\/p>\n

Martin Navl\u00e1\u010dil and Viktor \u0160ime\u010dek from the Teo via Foundation introduced the topic of finances in the church. In their presentation, they shared their vision of how economically active parishes can better serve their mission and emphasized the importance of involving the laity in all the activities of the Church, including the economic ones.<\/p>\n

Sv\u011btla Jaro\u0161ov\u00e1 concluded the program with a talk entitled “From Ecological Conversion to Integral Ecology,”<\/em> where she emphasized how closely ecology is related to the mission of the Church. Svetla’s input helped us to better understand that conservation is not an optional aspect of the Christian experience, but a key element for a virtuous life.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conclusion of the summer school<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The “Renew My House”<\/em> Summer School was an intense and inspiring event that offered participants an expanded perspective on how to become active agents in the Church and society, inspired by the example of St. Francis of Assisi and the Catholic Social Teaching. Participants left the environment of Porta Coeli Monastery not only with new knowledge, but also with a sense of being part of a wider community of people who share the same vision and are committed to turning it into reality.<\/p>\n

The summer school thus demonstrated that walking together and sharing values is the key to rebuilding our common home – whether it is the church, our community or the planet. Our desire is that this gathering will not be a one-off event, but will inspire all involved to take the next steps on the road to a better world.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Ve dnech 16. a\u017e 18. srpna 2024 se v kr\u00e1sn\u00e9m prost\u0159ed\u00ed kl\u00e1\u0161tera Porta Coeli v z\u00e1zem\u00ed NaNebi odehr\u00e1la letn\u00ed \u0161kola “Obnov m\u016fj d\u016fm” po\u0159\u00e1dan\u00e1 v r\u00e1mci iniciativy Franti\u0161kova ekonomika<\/a>. Letn\u00ed \u0161kola byla inspirov\u00e1na \u017eivotem svat\u00e9ho Franti\u0161ka z Assisi, jeho\u017e mise spo\u010d\u00edvala v obnov\u011b Bo\u017e\u00edho domu.<\/p>\n

Ta v jeho pojet\u00ed p\u0159esahuje pouhou obnovu c\u00edrkve jako instituce \u2013 zahrnuje tak\u00e9 obnovu vztah\u016f mezi lidmi a cel\u00fdm Stvo\u0159en\u00edm. Na\u0161\u00edm c\u00edlem bylo vytvo\u0159it prostor pro setk\u00e1n\u00ed, sd\u00edlen\u00ed a spole\u010dn\u00e9 hled\u00e1n\u00ed cest, jak obnovit a rozv\u00edjet sv\u011bt kolem n\u00e1s na z\u00e1klad\u011b k\u0159es\u0165ansk\u00fdch hodnot, spole\u010densk\u00e9 odpov\u011bdnosti a Soci\u00e1ln\u00edho u\u010den\u00ed c\u00edrkve.<\/p>\n

Na letn\u00ed \u0161kolu p\u0159ijelo 25 \u00fa\u010dastn\u00edk\u016f a 10 host\u016f, kte\u0159\u00ed tvo\u0159ili dynamickou a rozmanitou skupinu osob s podobn\u00fdmi z\u00e1jmy a hodnotami. Cel\u00e9 t\u0159i dny naplnily nejen p\u0159edn\u00e1\u0161ky a workshopy, ale tak\u00e9 dobrovolnick\u00e1 pr\u00e1ce na zvelebov\u00e1n\u00ed okol\u00ed kl\u00e1\u0161tera. Prost\u0159ed\u00ed kl\u00e1\u0161tera Porta Coeli poskytlo ide\u00e1ln\u00ed atmosf\u00e9ru pro kon\u00e1n\u00ed letn\u00ed \u0161koly a n\u00e1zev letn\u00ed \u0161koly \u201eObnov m\u016fj d\u016fm\u201c tak nabyl re\u00e1ln\u00e9ho v\u00fdznamu.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Program pln\u00fd inspirace a podn\u011bt\u016f<\/h2>\n

Program letn\u00ed \u0161koly byl nabit\u00fd t\u00e9maty, kter\u00e1 se vztahuj\u00ed k environment\u00e1ln\u00edm a soci\u00e1ln\u00edm ot\u00e1zk\u00e1m, je\u017e jsou pro dne\u0161n\u00ed spole\u010dnost kl\u00ed\u010dov\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Hned v \u00favodu p\u0159edn\u00e1\u0161el Vojta Pelik\u00e1n na t\u00e9ma “Mana\u017ee\u0159i, nebo sourozenci stvo\u0159en\u00ed? \u010cesk\u00e9 c\u00edrkve v roli hospod\u00e1\u0159\u016f v krajin\u011b”, kter\u00e9mu se v\u011bnuje i v knize Vize zdaru, vize zmaru<\/a>. Vojta se zam\u011b\u0159il na roli c\u00edrkv\u00ed (p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm katolick\u00e9) jako hospod\u00e1\u0159\u016f v krajin\u011b po restituc\u00edch. Mluvil o tom, zda c\u00edrkve p\u0159istupuj\u00ed k hospoda\u0159en\u00ed jako k pouh\u00e9mu prost\u0159edku pro zaji\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed sv\u00e9ho provozu, nebo zda vn\u00edmaj\u00ed svou specifickou \u00falohu p\u0159i spr\u00e1v\u011b Bo\u017e\u00edho stvo\u0159en\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Mike oslovil \u00fa\u010dastn\u00edky hned ze za\u010d\u00e1tku sv\u00e9 promluvy, kdy\u017e velmi jasn\u011b uvedl, \u017ee c\u00edlem soci\u00e1ln\u00ed anga\u017eovanosti c\u00edrkve nen\u00ed vy\u0159e\u0161it n\u011bjak\u00fd probl\u00e9m, ale p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm skrze ni hl\u00e1sat, \u017ee Je\u017e\u00ed\u0161 je P\u00e1n. Martin a Tom\u00e1\u0161 Seppovi p\u0159inesli na letn\u00ed \u0161kolu t\u00e9ma “Ekonomika spole\u010denstv\u00ed jako \u017eivotn\u00ed styl podnikatele”. Jejich p\u0159edn\u00e1\u0161ka p\u0159edstavila Ekonomiku spole\u010denstv\u00ed (ES), iniciativu, kter\u00e1 p\u0159etv\u00e1\u0159\u00ed podniky sm\u011brem k soci\u00e1ln\u00ed odpov\u011bdnosti. Podniky zapojen\u00e9 do ES dobrovoln\u011b p\u0159erozd\u011bluj\u00ed zisky na podporu m\u00edstn\u00edch komunit, vzd\u011bl\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed a sni\u017eov\u00e1n\u00ed chudoby, \u010d\u00edm\u017e se st\u00e1vaj\u00ed aktivn\u00edmi hr\u00e1\u010di v budov\u00e1n\u00ed spravedliv\u011bj\u0161\u00ed spole\u010dnosti.<\/p>\n

Synodalita, ekologie a finance v c\u00edrkvi<\/h2>\n

Ji\u0159\u00ed Zaj\u00edc se zam\u011b\u0159il na v\u00fdznam synodality a anga\u017eovanosti. Synodalita, ch\u00e1p\u00e1na jako spole\u010dn\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u010den\u00ed, je proces, kter\u00fd m\u00e1 potenci\u00e1l z\u00e1sadn\u011b prom\u011bnit \u017eivot c\u00edrkve a zapojit ka\u017ed\u00e9ho v\u011b\u0159\u00edc\u00edho do aktivn\u00ed role p\u0159i prom\u011bn\u011b spole\u010dnosti.<\/p>\n

Ve sv\u00e9 p\u0159edn\u00e1\u0161ce se pod\u011blili o vizi, jak mohou ekonomicky aktivn\u00ed farnosti l\u00e9pe slou\u017eit sv\u00e9mu posl\u00e1n\u00ed, a zd\u016fraznili d\u016fle\u017eitost zapojen\u00ed laik\u016f do ve\u0161ker\u00e9 \u010dinnosti c\u00edrkve, v\u010detn\u011b t\u00e9 ekonomick\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Sv\u011btla n\u00e1m sv\u00fdm vstupem pomohla l\u00e9pe pochopit, \u017ee ochrana p\u0159\u00edrody nen\u00ed voliteln\u00fdm aspektem k\u0159es\u0165ansk\u00e9 zku\u0161enosti, ale kl\u00ed\u010dov\u00fdm prvkem pro ctnostn\u00fd \u017eivot.<\/p>\n

Letn\u00ed \u0161kola “Obnov m\u016fj d\u016fm” byla intenzivn\u00ed a inspirativn\u00ed ud\u00e1lost\u00ed, kter\u00e1 nab\u00eddla \u00fa\u010dastn\u00edk\u016fm roz\u0161\u00ed\u0159en\u00fd pohled na to, jak se st\u00e1t aktivn\u00edm akt\u00e9rem v c\u00edrkvi a spole\u010dnosti, inspirov\u00e1ni p\u0159\u00edkladem svat\u00e9ho Franti\u0161ka z Assisi a Soci\u00e1ln\u00edm u\u010den\u00ed c\u00edrkve. Z prost\u0159ed\u00ed kl\u00e1\u0161tera Porta Coeli odj\u00ed\u017ed\u011bli \u00fa\u010dastn\u00edci nejen s nov\u00fdmi v\u011bdomostmi, ale tak\u00e9 s pocitem, \u017ee jsou sou\u010d\u00e1st\u00ed \u0161ir\u0161\u00ed komunity lid\u00ed, kte\u0159\u00ed sd\u00edlej\u00ed stejnou vizi a jsou odhodl\u00e1ni ji p\u0159etavit v realitu.<\/p>\n

Letn\u00ed \u0161kola tak uk\u00e1zala, \u017ee spole\u010dn\u00e9 kr\u00e1\u010den\u00ed a sd\u00edlen\u00ed hodnot je kl\u00ed\u010dem k obnov\u011b na\u0161eho spole\u010dn\u00e9ho domu \u2013 a\u0165 u\u017e je to c\u00edrkev, na\u0161e komunita nebo cel\u00e1 planeta.
