Applications for Grants – Restarting the Economy – The Economy of Francesco Global Event 2025

Grants for participation in The Economy of Francesco Global event 2025 are available to applicants who meet the basic eligibility requirements for the event and are unable to attend due to financial constraints. Applicants must not already be recipients of other funding (scholarships or grants) serving the same purpose.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals living in vulnerable or challenging circumstances. However, we kindly ask that grants be requested only in cases of genuine and well-documented financial need.

Applications must be submitted online via the designated page, specifying the type of grant you are applying for (Type A or Type B).

Eligibility

Applicants should be young individuals who are active in the following fields. Preference will be given to participants under 35 years of age.

RESEARCH: Students and scholars in economics and related disciplines (undergraduate and master’s students, PhD candidates, young researchers).

BUSINESS: Entrepreneurs, managers, or individuals working in startups or in small, medium, or large companies with ongoing activities or projects under development.

CHANGEMAKERS: Facilitators or promoters of projects, processes, and/or activities serving the common good and contributing to a just, sustainable, and inclusive economy.

Required Documents

  • Two letters of recommendation (from university professors, institutions, dioceses, movements, business networks, etc.)
  • A motivation statement and/or description of relevant experiences
  • A written commitment to shared responsibility
  • A written commitment to reciprocity

Important Dates

  • Application deadline: June 30, 2025

The selection process will be overseen by a dedicated committee and will include an evaluation of all submitted documents. In some cases, candidates may be invited to a short audio or video interview.

Types of Grants

  • Type A – Participation Grant: Covers the participation fee only, which includes registration for the 3-day event, accommodation, and meals.
  • Type B – Travel Grant: Covers partially the cost of travel. Reimbursement will be made via bank transfer after the event, upon submission of valid travel receipts.

Note: No additional financial support or subsidies are available. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis until all funds have been allocated. Early application is highly recommended. The Selection Committee’s decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

  • Candidate profile
  • Geographical distribution
  • Gender balance
  • Previous support from EoF
  • Available budget

Successful applicants will be notified via email by July 6, 2025 and will receive detailed information regarding their grant.

    Participation in The Economy of Francesco through a grant requires a commitment to reciprocity.

    We ask all applicants to do their best to cover, even partially, the cost of their participation and travel. We also encourage you to seek local funding and to inform the organizing committee at community@francescoeconomy.org if you manage to secure other support. This allows us to reallocate resources to others in need.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE TYPE B GRANT - Travel Grant

    Please indicate the total amount (in EURO) of your expected travel expenses, based on your own research and in compliance with the guidelines below:

    Applicants must indicate the full cost of their travel tickets, following these specific criteria:

    • Travel class: Economy (for flights, trains, or buses)

    • Departure airport/station: Choose the most cost-effective option, even if it's not the closest to your departure location. For flights, Ciampino is preferred over Fiumicino.

    • Travel dates: Your trip must be scheduled within 3 days before or after the event. Travel planned significantly outside this range (e.g., one month before or after) will not be considered.

    Before submitting your request, please read the following carefully

    • The travel cost you indicate must be based on your own research and follow the criteria above.

    • Based on your input and the overall budget available, the Foundation will assign a fixed reimbursement amount (not a percentage of the total).

    • You will be informed of the approved amount by July 6.

    • You are responsible for purchasing your own travel tickets.

    • You must pay the participation fee by the date specified. If you do not confirm your participation by then, your travel grant will be reassigned.

    • After purchasing your travel tickets, you must submit all supporting documents (e.g., receipts, confirmation emails). These will be verified.

    • Reimbursement will be processed only after the event and not before December 15, 2025. The final deadline to request reimbursement is January 30, 2026.

    Please initiate your visa application as early as possible. We are not responsible for delayed or rejected applications.

    Important:
    If you are unable to travel, please inform us promptly at staff@francescoeconomy.org. Generally, in such cases, the travel grant will not be awarded. However, we are open to reviewing each situation individually.
