A Workshop Experience at the Economy of Francesco Global Event 2025

Workshop organized by the Village Management & Gift – Testimony written by Gabriele Sarnari

The two-hour workshop organized by our Management & Gift village was very interesting and inspiring. After a round of presentations to break the ice and get to know each other, we decided to divide the workshop into two parts. In the first part, a member of the coordination team – Vincenzo Porzio – made us immerse ourselves in his social organization based in Naples. He explained how people from a difficult neighbourhood took the opportunity to create value for the community where they live by taking care of some religious venues and opening them to the public. It was a really powerful example of how trust and gratuitousness can be generative for people and their territory.

The second part of the workshop was led by Professor Roberta Sferrazzo, who conducts research and teaches about the role of gift-giving in management. She shared some important concepts on the topic before starting an exciting situational game: every participant was asked to take a position (also physically!) in replying to some questions related to real everyday work experiences. Once the conversation was launched, only the bell ringing to signal the end of time could have stopped it!
