S4P – July 26, 2024

On June 28, in Bergamo, Italy, participants started from Pilo Park and walked to Chiara Lubich’s garden, reading the EoF pact and concluding with a shared aperitif, covering 3km.

On July 2, in Badia (Bolzano), a walk from Furnacia parking lot to the small church of Crusc totaled 18.588 steps. Wow! On July 6, in Trieste, a route from the Generali Convention Center to Piazza Unità d’Italia during the Settimane Sociali dei Cattolici added another 3.270 steps.

On July 7, friends walked from Loppiano to Poggio a la Croce. IISS Gadda School in Fornovo di Taro also contributed 297.000 steps from 99 participants. Amazing!

In Dhaka, Bangladesh, more than 20 participants walked a 3km path in Uttara, collecting around 500kg of single-use plastics along the way.

On Thursday, July 11, a group of approximately 100 participants embarked on a mountain hike from Falcade to Baita Segantini through Val Venegia. Starting from Passo Valles and Passo Rolle, they collectively covered 7km, totaling an incredible 1.560.000 steps! This monumental effort highlights the power of unity and the impact of every step taken for peace.

From July 1 to 12, four participants journeyed 149 km from the Montepaolo Hermitage to La Verna on the St. Anthony path, and then to Novafeltria on the St. Francis path (Rimini – La Verna).

On July 7, 8, and 9, a unique relay walk saw three friends walk 11 km from Llucmajor to the Ermita Nuestra Señora de Gracia in Mallorca, Spain, followed by 10 km in Orosi, Costa Rica, and concluding with 6 km in Cerro de la Virgen de Salta, Argentina.

Also on July 11, the “Centro per la Pace” in Assisi organized a walk from their headquarters to the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Seventeen participants, including volunteers, workers, and families, discussed the importance of peace and celebrated with a poem by Luciano Giannelli, fresh water, and melon.

On July 11 and 12, a group of 15 humans and one dog hiked from Usellieres to Rifugio Bezzi in Valgrisenche, covering 12,73 km, equivalent to 20.289 steps.

On July 13, in Portugal, a pilgrimage involving 68 participants covered 612.566 steps. Starting from the Ismaili Centre and passing through the Central Mosque of Lisbon, Church of Santa Isabel, and ending at Estrela Garden, the walk celebrated interfaith dialogue and fraternity, commemorating the historic meeting between Saint Francis and Sultan Malik-al-Kamil.
