Caminata por la Paz

Peace Walk: when paths meet

On Saturday, September 20th, I had the joy of participating in the Peace Walk, an event that was much more than just a walk: it was a space of encounter, reflection, and community action, with diverse activities that invited us to think and live peace as a daily value.

For me, this experience had a very special meaning. I am part of REDIPAZ through Fundación Por Igual Más, and at the same time I walk alongside the Economy of Francesco, within the CO2 – Inequalities working community, because of my trajectory in diversity and disability both in the foundation and in RELACID (Latin American Network for Interreligious Cooperation on Disability).

Bridging paths, building bridges

That is why this walk was also the opportunity to see how different paths in my own life intertwined: the work for acknowledgement on disability, the commitment to peace from REDIPAZ, and the inspiration offered by the Economy of Francesco.

The alliance between these networks became visible in this event, particularly in the symbolic support of EOF Living,

which reminded us that peace is also built when economies and projects are placed at the service of fraternity.

Peace as a shared banner

At REDIPAZ we believe that peace is not an abstract concept nor limited to the absence of war.

We understand it as a multidimensional and holistic peace, which embraces social justice, cultural, environmental, and personal peace. And in the Economy of Francesco we strongly affirm that there will be no true peace without social justice, without respect for the dignity of all people, and without care for our Common Home.

Walking alongside so many people who shared this dream was deeply inspiring.
Each step taken that morning reminded me that peace is built by weaving wills together, by listening to each other, by opening spaces for those who have been historically excluded.

Keep walking

I am left with the certainty that this was only one step, but an important one.
Peace is not decreed: it is walked, celebrated, and built in community.
And there, in that union of efforts between REDIPAZ, the Economy of Francesco, and so many other organizations, I discovered once again that when we meet from diversity, the hope of a more just and humane world flourishes.

This experience was also a sign of harmony with the guiding thread of peace, which will lead our next in-person meeting as the Economy of Francesco Family in Castel Gandolfo, and will continue to mark the course of our shared journey.
